Making a difference -- These are just a few local people who have thrown their weight Ann Molina's new venture in Highland Falls: The Center. Molina is seated at left, and beside her are teen interns Brooke Lewis, Haley Jackson, Janne Rowan and Tony Njoga. Behind them are adults who are helping: Mabel Galu, Brendajoy Griffin, Rev. Judy Ferguson, Town of Highlands Ambulance Corps Capt. Bill Stroppel, Town Clerk June Patterson and Brian Aylward. If you can help, stop by the next open house, from 11A.M. - 1 P.M. on Saturday, Sept. 6.

For a good cause -- Desiree Talley, above right, and her grandmother, Denise Gibney, led Saturday's 'Get Your Pink On' breast cancer awareness walk at Roe Park. Talley, 22, organized the event with the support of The Center, and raised about $500 to donate to the American Cancer Society toward breast cancer research. Talley vows the event will happen again next year and hopes for even more local support.

An important lesson -- O'Neill High School JROTC cadets Malik Johnson and Justin Schaeffer took time out of their busy schedules last week to stop by The Center and conduct a ‘flag etiquette’ class for some local youth. Here, Will and Isabelle DeSpirito, Erica Affronti and Nevaeh Jackson learn to properly fold an American flag.
